NEW DELHI: Continuing their protest against the sealing drive across Delhi, MPs, MLAs and corporators of Aam Aadmi Party will hold a march on Monday till the Sansad Bhavan, demanding a new law to protect traders from sealing, a senior party leader said here on Sunday.
"BJP is doing unnecessary politics and blaming the AAP government instead. The main responsible agencies, in this case, are MCDs and DDA (Delhi Development Authority). We have no role to play here," said Saurabh Bharadwaj, chief spokesperson of AAP.
The MLA from Greater Kailash added that they urged the central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, to pass a law which will protect these poor traders which was why they will march till Sansad Bhawan.
"To protect the traders there should be some changes in the DDA's master plan for the Delhi.
"The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is the chairperson of DDA and our MLAs have repeatedly urged for some changes but there is no luck," Bharadwaj added.
On Saturday, councillors of AAP, the leaders of Opposition in three Houses of the Municipal Corporations of Delhi and nominated councillors marched from the party office to the Civic Centre, protesting against the ongoing sealing drive in different markets in the Capital.
The march was led by AAP MLAs Jarnail Singh and Anil Bajpai.
They announced that the party leaders would march to Parliament on Monday, demanding urgent and concrete action by the Centre to immediately put an end to the "completely unjustified" sealing of markets.
"The AAP is of the clear view that the traders of Delhi cannot be denied their right to livelihood due to the utter incompetence and prevalent corruption in the MCDs, which is the main reason behind the ongoing sealing," the party said in its statement on Saturday
The MCDs should immediately withdraw conversion charges which are the sole reason behind the ongoing sealing, the statement further said.
The party alleged that the BJP, which has been ruling the municipal corporation for more than 10 years, has diverted nearly Rs 2,700 crore – collected under the guise of conversion charges – since 2006.
