New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs and senior leaders held a protest in Parliament complex on Wednesday against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not listing the Bill for regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the Winter Session. Senior AAP
leaders including Sanjay Singh, Bhagwant Mann, ND Gupta, and Sushil Gupta staged a protest near Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex against BJP for not bringing a Bill in the Winter Session to regularise unauthorised colonies of
Delhi despite their recent announcement of changing the legal status of the colonies. They held placards and raised slogans like "stop cheating people".
In an all-party meeting held a day before the Winter Session first sitting, BJP presented 27 Bills that were to be tabled in the Session but the Bill to authorise colonies was missing. In a statement, Singh said, "AAP has already passed a resolution in the Delhi Legislative Assembly for immediate regularisation and granting ownership rights to the residents of these colonies."
On October 23, the Union Cabinet had approved a proposal to grant ownership rights to people living in unauthorised colonies in Delhi.
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had said the Centre would also bring a Bill in the Winter Session to give relief to the residents of unauthorised colonies in the national Capital, said a report.
