New Delhi: Delhi Police confirmed that an elderly man was brutally murdered in Alipur village of Outer North district on Saturday night, while he was alone in his room. The man was found dead by his son the next morning when he went to wake his father up. Police have identified the deceased as one Ravinder and said that he was at least 60 years old. Police sources said that upon cursory checking, a single wound to the victim's head was found and that his body has been handed to the grieving family after post mortem examinations.
In addition, it is likely that the murder was committed by a person known to the victim. In another case, a 55-year-old man was found dead near Daryaganj late on Saturday night, in what police say was a case of hit-and-run.
According to a senior police officer, they have so far been unable to identify the vehicle that hit the man. A case of rash driving and culpable homicide has been registered.
