6 held for damaging CATS ambulance

NEW DELHI: Delhi police has arrested six accused persons including former and present staffers of CATS for damaging two CATS ambulances at the Petrol pump in front of Burari Transport authority, Burari, Delhi. After interrogation and arrest, they were produced before the court and have been sent to Tihar Jail for 14 days.

On August 17, four CATS ambulances had reported from Usmanpur at the Transport office, Burari for the fitness certificate. After the fitness test etc, two CATS ambulances came to the petrol pump in front of Burari Transport authority for filling fuel.

After getting the fuel, the drivers of CATS ambulances got busy in payment by cards. In the meantime, 6 persons came with their faces covered and started quarrelling with the drivers and smashed the windscreen. Hence a case was registered.

"Accused Sanjay and Amit have been working as drivers on CATS ambulances. Accused Vishal and Arvind were also employed in CATS Ambulances with earlier contractor company BBG providing services to CATS," said Harendra Singh, Additional DCP North.

Police said prior to this incident, similar incidents against CAT ambulances were reported from different parts of Delhi and in all incidents, the perpetrators had covered their faces causing it difficult to establish their identities.

The sustained interrogation of accused persons revealed that they belonged to the striking section of protestors and wanted to sabotage the CATS vehicles.
