6 dreaded criminals held after gun fight

Greater Noida: In back to back three shootouts between the criminals and police in less than 24 hours at various places in Greater Noida, police managed to arrest six dreaded criminals following gun fight. Four out of the six arrested criminals sustained bullet injuries in retaliatory firing by police party. These encounters were reported from Surajpur, Bisrakh and Ecotech-3 area of Greater Noida.

According to police, the first shoot out took place in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida during early morning routine police checking at around 4:30 am on Monday. "During police checking, we signaled two persons travelling on a motorcycle to stop. Instead of stopping, they opened fire on police party and tried to flee the spot. In retaliatory firing from police party, a criminal, identified as Neeraj Sharma, a native if Gulaothi area of Bulandshahr district, sustained bullet injury in his leg and was arrested. However, his another accomplice, identified as Suraj managed to flee the spot," said Akhilesh Tripathi, station house officer, Bisrakh police station.

The arrested persons were wanted in many cases of loot and robbery in Delhi-NCR region. Police recovered a motorcycle and an country-made illegal weapon from the possession of accused.

The second shootout took place in Surajpur area on early Monday morning at around 6 am. "We got an alert from Knowledge park police station about two criminals fleeing the police checking and firing on the police party. Cops were pressed into action and the criminals were intercepted near Jaitpur roundabout. Two criminals were nabbed in the incident while one among the two sustained bullet injury in leg," said a senior police official of Surajpur police station.

Police officials said that the arrested accused were identified as Praveen Kumar (injured) and Pavan Kumar, both natives of Dankaur area of Greater Noida. The arrested accused were wanted in the loot case in which they snatched around six thousand dollars from a person in Knowledge park area, few days ago.

"We have recovered four thousand dollars, worth Rs 2 lakhs, 80 thousand from the possession of accused. Apart from this, an illegal country-made pistol and a Hyundai Santro car was also recovered from the possession of the accused," added officer.

In third encounter with criminals, police nabbed Om Prakash, Krishna Kumar and Amit from Ecotech-III area of Greater Noida on Monday evening. "The trio of accused, travelling in a car, were intercepted for police checking but they opened fire on police party instead of stopping. In retaliatory firing, Om Prakash and Krishna Kumar sustained bullet injuries in leg and have been admitted to the hospital. The arrested persons were wanted in many heinous crimes," said Raj Pal Tomar, station house officer, Ecotech-III
