NEW DELHI: A team of Special Cell has busted another modus operandi used by Afghan based handlers and has recovered about 50 kilograms of high quality Heroin. This takes the total recovery in the ongoing operation to 200 kilograms.
After the initial arrests of five accused including two Afghan nationals, efforts were made to trace the wider footprints of the narco-mafia operating out of Afghanistan.
In the same direction, based upon the revelations of arrested accused Rehmat Gul, a raid was conducted at a cold storage plant in Kondli, Sonipat. There, two more Afghan nationals were found and upon pointed interrogations, they led the police team to 102 cartons of raisins (kish-mish).
These marked cartons were interspersed amongst a consignment of over 600 cartons which had arrived in India from the Attari-Wagah border check post in the month of March 2019. The point of loading was Kandahar.
These cartons were carrying raisins,when these cartons were carefully examined, a total of 204 poly-pouches were recovered, neatly concealed between two layers of carton casing cardboard.
"A total of 50 kilograms of high quality Heroin was recovered in the exercise. The Afghan nationals found in the possession of the consignment have been identified as Mohd. Akbar and Neda Mohammad" said Manishi Chandra, DCP Special Cell.
