In the incident, one brother identified as 21-year-old Santosh, has succumbed to his injuries while the other one, identified as Yudhveer, is battling for life. Both of them belonged to Uttarakhand and were working in a private company in Bawal, Haryana, to sustain their livelihood. They had been residing in the area for over two years.

The entire incident occurred at around 11:30 pm in a residential society in Daruhera, where the two brothers were residing as tenants on the top floor.

According to law enforcement officials, a group of men who were living in proximity to the quarters banged their doors and openly fired at them. During the initial rounds of investigation, it was found that the accused were heavily drunk at the time of the incident.

Presently no arrests have been made in the case and all the men involved in the incident are at large. The Rewari police have filed the case under the relevant section and have begun the investigations.

The police are also looking into the other angle like the incident of rage where the brothers were shot because they intervened during the drinking session and asked them to not behave inappropriately.

"At present, there have been no arrests. We will soon get hold of the culprits. We are also trying to ascertain the reason why this heinous act was committed. The initial investigation highlights that this is the crime of setting the personal vendetta but then it can also be a matter of uncontrolled rage among the drunkard men," said a senior police official from Rewari police.
