noida: A Noida based woman has alleged her four-year-old daughter of being a victim of 'digital rape' at her school under Section 39 police station jurisdiction. While the Noida police has registered an FIR, they are yet to make any arrest.
In her complaint, the woman told police that the incident took place on September 7. Rajneesh Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police-I, Noida said that a complaint was received at Sector 39 police station on September 10.
"The complainant stated that when she picked her daughter up from school, the child complained of itching on her body. The mother applied powder on her after which the child complained of pain as well. When asked, the child narrated the incident to her mother, saying that when she had gone to the washroom of her school, a boy alllegedly raped her," Verma said.
The officer further said that the girl was sent to medical examination but the doctor have not confirmed any injuries on the child in the external medical examination, police said.
"The mother has refused for conducting victim's internal medical examination, and on the basis of her complaint, a case was registered under section 376 AB (Whoever, commits rape on a woman under twelve years of age) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO)," Verma added.
The officer further said that police teams have scanned CCTV footages of the school.
"In the CCTV footage accessed from the school, the girl can be seen going to washroom on the day of incident mentioned in the complaint as well on the next day. However, we are exploring other investigation patterns and appropriate actions are being taken" the ACP said.
'Digital rape' is not a sexual offence committed digitally or virtually, as the term might suggest, but refers to the act of forceful penetration using fingers or toes without consent. The word 'digit' in the English language dictionary means finger, thumb and toe, which is why the act has been called 'digital rape'.
