NEW DELHI: A four-storey building collapsed in central Delhi's Karol Bagh area on Wednesday. The building was located in Dev Nagar area of Karol bagh. It was a commercial building and had shops and godowns.
"A call about the incident was received at 8:40 am after which four vehicles including two rescue responders were sent to the spot," a senior official from Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said.
The ground floor of the building houses shops. However, there was no occupancy on the fourth floors of the building.
There were some godowns too and no shop was opened as the usual time of opening was around 10 am. Since, the incident happened early in the morning, noone was present inside the building.
It is also said that the building leaned to an angle and the people around got alert on time and moved away from the building. A building came down with a huge thud and soon the passerby made a call to the local police and fire brigade was informed.
Operations were underway to ascertain if anyone is trapped inside the building. Rescue team reached the spot along with local police and the area was cordoned off.
The onlookers were kept at bay while the agencies looked for any human trace in the rubble.
After hours of efforts noone was found under the debris. No casualty has been reported in the incident so far, officials said.The police is doing the investigation in the incident..
