New Delhi: To raise awareness about women safety and security, the Delhi Police has taken the help of an app-based bus service of 350 buses to display women safety messages on the buses. These messages are talking about Himmat app, women helpline number and Sashakti training prominently displayed inside and outside the buses to make general public specially women aware of the provisions available with them in case of an offence.
The Company 'Shuttl" has more than 30,000 people using its service everyday, the cops believe it will help boost the download of the Himmat app. As well as public/commuters on road also see the message and will be aware of Delhi Police initiatives for safety and security of women along with anti terrorism.
Special CP Traffic Deepender Pathak on Thursday flagged off 25 buses which were a part of first phase of 100 buses of Shuttle at Rajghat Gate.
"Delhi Police has and will continue to make it safe for women, to live, work and travel within the city. We will continue to partner, in any way possible, with credible organizations in this regard.
This initiative is said to bring more awareness amongst girls and women in Delhi.
"Girls and women on the roads need to be constantly reminded of their rights and helplines and thus I think this is a great step. One can always note down the helpline numbers and download the app once seen written in bold and big fonts on buses," said Pratibha, a Delhi resident.
