New Delhi: A 26-year-old man was on Wednesday apprehended at a Delhi Metro station for allegedly carrying a country-made pistol in his bag, officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said.
Personnel of CISF apprehended one Mohammed Naeem, a resident of Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, at Uttam Nagar East station, after the luggage scanner machine detected a pistol-like image in his bag late Tuesday night, CISF officials said.
Naeem was later handed over to the local police by the CISF team for further investigation, officials added.
The accused, they said, could not furnish a valid reason when asked why he was carrying the illegal firearm.
Carrying arms and ammunition or other weapons inside the Delhi Metro network is banned under the law.
