25-year-old kills herself at Kashmere Gate Metro station

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old girl on Wednesday committed suicide by jumping in front of the metro at Kashmere Gate station, official sources said.
The deceased was identified as Pooja and was used to work as a computer operator at a private firm in Kashmere Gate area.
"The train operator applied emergency brakes but could not save Pooja, who came under the train and died on the spot at 7 pm on Wednesday," said an official of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The body was retrieved immediately from the metro track by the security personnel. "There was no suicide note found with the woman, a resident of Gokulpuri area in Delhi," another DMRC official stated.
"Pooja accompanied with one of her friend. She jumped ahead of the Metro train going towards Dilshad garden. Metro services affected for more than half an hour, body moved to Subzi Mandi mortuary for post mortem," said Pankaj Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro).
"The train service on the Red line was stopped between 7.05 pm and 7.38 pm after the incident," said a DMRC official.
Many commuters took to Twitter on Wednesday to talk about the delay as the
incident that took place around 7.30 pm affected the evening peak hour rush.
