NEW DELHI: Twenty-five live cartridges have been found inside the baggage of a passenger at IGI Airport on Sunday evening.
The passenger identified as Deepak Kumar Saxena was detained for investigation after the X-Ray machine of the CISF detected 25 cartridges of .32 bore in the handbag of the passenger. On inspection, it was found that that the cylinder of the cartridge was made of brass like metal. The passenger was detained and was questioned about the possession of these ammunitions to which he cold not provide any satisfactory answer. Later, a case was registered by the police.
"The passenger could not provide any valid document regarding the possession of this ammunition. A case was registered under section 25/54/59 Arms Act, and the cartridges have been confiscated" said a senior police officer.
The police is now investigating from where the cartridges were procured and under what intention they were kept inside the handbag.
