New Delhi: A 23-year-old man was stabbed to death with a blunt object by unidentified goons in central Delhi's Ranjeet Nagar on Monday.
Police said two persons have been detained for the murder and suspect that it could have been the fallout of a rivalry between the accused and the victim.
According to police, the victim was identified as Varun, a resident of east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area.
Family members told the police that they last spoke to him two hours before they got a call regarding his death. They said that he was with his friends at that time.
Police said that the case was reported around 12.30 am on Monday, when a passersby noticed Varun lying in a pool of blood on the road.
A PCR call was made, after which cops reached the spot and took the victim – suffered multiple stab wounds – to a private hospital nearby, where doctors pronounced him brought dead.
His wallet and phone were found intact, ruling out the possibility of a robbery attempt gone awry. Cops are probing whether the victim had something else on him that the men wanted to steal.
Meanwhile, in north west Delhi's Swarup Nagar area, a robbery was reported on Monday evening.
Police claimed that the incident was reported from a jewelry shop around 6 pm, when the accused came in wearing the helmet.
The yet-to-be-identified accused persons threatened the shop owner with a gun and robbed him of jewellery and cash.
