200 buses for public transportation in Gurugram on Aug 15

Gurugram: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is all set to introduce 200 buses, including air-conditioned buses, for public transportation in Gurugram this Independence Day. At present, there are around 50 Haryana Roadways buses that are operational in the city.

Not only the number of the buses in the city inadequate but also poor maintenance and regular breakdown the buses result in inconvenience to the commuters. The poor transportation system in the city has resulted in the residents relying on shared autos and private local buses. Lack of an effective public transport facility has resulted in the increase of illegal cabs plying in the city.

GMDA has begun preparations to find the bus depots where the buses will be parked. Four bus depots have been chosen by the public officials for this purpose. The areas being considered as bus depots are 13.5 acres in Kadipur, 4.6 acres in Sector 53, 12 acres in Sector 33 and three acres near Central Mall near MG road.
