NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide inside the toilet of a Delhi University-affiliated girl's college in west Delhi's Janakpuri area on Wednesday morning.

Police said that around 9:50 am, they received a call from authorities at Bharti College about the girl's body being found in the toilet.

On reaching the college, police they found a bottle of pesticide beside the girl's body in the toilet and a paper cutter knife inside her bag. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

Cops said the girl has been identified as Vicky Kumari, a first-year undergraduate student at the college and a resident of Uttam Nagar.

"So far, no suicide note has been found. Her mobile is also untraceable. We are in the process of collecting the call records of the girl to get some clue," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar.

After the girl's family reached the hospital after getting new of their daughter's suicide, the mother fainted and later shifted to DDU Hospital.

The victim's father, elder brother and younger sister were questioned by Delhi police. However, the family has not yet named any suspect.

Police said that friends and teachers in the college said the girl was reserved and shy, often found busy on phone watching videos, and used to bunk classes often. Cops are trying to verify if she was depressed.
