New Delhi: A 14-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen by the robbers who tried to snatch the money bag from his father in Rohini sector 3 on Thursday afternoon. Despite being shot, the boy held on to the bag and even got one of the robbers nabbed by the bystanders in the area. The other robber was also chased and nabbed with the weapon used in firing. The boy has been to admitted a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
When 14-year-old Sunny came out of the Dairy along with his father Munish, they were carrying the bag which had the money of their sales till the afternoon. The two robbers were keeping a close watch on them. As soon as they both got out of their shop, the robbers attacked them and put some chilli powder on them. They then tried to snatch away the bag full of cash containing approximately Rs 3.5 lakh. However, the 14-year boy, Sunny sensed trouble and held on to the bag providing stiff resistance to the robbers. As the crowd near them swelled, the robbers took out a pistol and opened fire. The bullet hit the boy in the stomach. He collapsed but did not let the robbers flee. He caught one of them tightly and soon the robber was nabbed by the public. The other one bearing pistol was chased and caught sometime later.
"The boy was shot in the abdomen and the two robbers have been caught. The boy is hospitalised," said DCP Rohini, Rajnish Gupta.
The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was operated. His condition is said to be stable. A team of doctors are keeping a close watch on his condition. Last week, a cab driver was shot dead by robbers in Anand Vihar as he tied to catch the criminals fleeing the spot after snatching the money bag of a collection agent.
