New Delhi: As many as 14 people were injured after a swing broke down in a Diwali Mela in Anand Vihar area of Shahdara district on Friday.
Police said that there was no permission to install swing inside the premises of a charitable trust. A case has been registered in this regard.
According to police on Friday at around 8 pm, a PCR call regarding breaking of swing inside the charitable trust premise causing injuries to the people. The Delhi Police team reached the spot and started their investigation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Amit Sharma said that the spot was visited and it was found that, manually operated swing overturned on the ground and injured were already shifted to hospital. "As per the enquiry at the spot, it came to notice that the swing was inside the trust premise and no outside entry was allowed," said DCP Shahdara.
Adding further, DCP Shahdara said that all riders (victims) are a member of trust (students or teachers).
"Total 14 persons ( all major ) are still under treatment at the hospital and all are out of danger," said DCP Shahdara.
He further added that no permission regarding the operation of swing inside the premises was obtained by the trust. A case is being registered under relevant sections of IPC and investigation is going on.
