New Delhi: Around 13,013 vacancies in junior ranks of the Delhi Police are expected to be filled by permanent recruits by July, 2024 after Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena pushed for it, according to the L-G’s Office on Tuesday.
Out of the total vacancies, 3,521 posts are in the advanced stage of recruitment and may be filled by December 2023. The posts include 559 and 276 male and female head constables respectively, 1,411 male constable drivers, and 857 Head Constable Wireless Operators or Tele Printer Operators, out of which 537 are for males and 284 for females.
Technical posts, like photographer, draftsman, store clerk, fitter, mast lasker, MT Helper, MT Storeman, Statistician, assistants, radio technician and workshop hands amongst others are also being filled through trade and skills tests, for which there are 418 positions. Additionally, 840 multi-tasking staff are being recruited.
“After taking over, Saxena had, in a series of meetings, issued directions to fill up the vacant positions following due process and with directions that sufficient number of female candidates be selected on
various positions,” mentioned the office.
These vacancies were advertised and the recruitment process is being conducted in a phased manner between December 2023 and July 2024. 1,799 more positions will be advertised for recruitment soon, while written exams, Physical endurance and Measurement Test, and typing tests have been conducted for others.
