New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday said they have apprehended the 12-year-old boy who attacked his teacher with an iron rod inside a school in south Delhi's Saket.
Investigators said they believe that the boy had stolen the rod from the school and was about to sell it.
On Saturday, a PCR call was received at 9.35 am that a child has injured a teacher at the school. During investigation, it came to light that the boy, studying in Class VII, had returned to school after a gap.
The class teacher then checked the boy's school bag and found a register and a one-and-a-half foot long steel rod. After confiscating the rod from the boy, the teacher scolded him and called his uncle.
Annoyed at his teacher, the boy picked up the rod from the teacher's table and tried to sneak it into his bag. The teacher got angry and tried to take the rod back, resulting in the boy hitting him on the face and head.
The teacher sustained injuries above his right eye, ear and head, and fled the school in fear by scaling the boundary wall.
He was taken to the hospital and is still under treatment for injuries.
