Noida/Gurugram/New Delhi: A Noida resident who recently returned from Indonesia has tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to four here, Gautam Buddh Nagar health officials said on Wednesday.
Noida police commissionerate on Wednesday imposed Section 144 of the CrPC, which prohibits assembly of more than four people in an area, in a bid to contain the spread of novel Coronavirus. "In view of the emergency situation arising out of threat of #CoronaVirus, and following section 144 of CrPC it is announced that no social, political, cultural, religious, sports, & business gatherings shall be allowed in Gautambudh Nagar district till April 5, 2020," Police Commissionerate, Noida tweeted.
With a new case of positive Covid-19 virus being detected from Noida, the total number of patients suffering from the deadly virus has climbed to four. Officials of district health department said that the person had a travel history of Indonesia earlier in the month and witnessed complaints of cold and prolonged fever.
The man along with his wife lived at a rented house in sector 41 area while his landlord including a wife and three children also lived at another floor in the same house. "We have isolated the wife of man suffering from Covid-19 virus and her samples have been taken for testing. We have also advised the landlord and his family to undertake the Covid-19 test," said Dr Anurag Bhargav, Chief Medical Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The officer further said that swab samples of the 26-year-old man, a resident of sector 41 area, was taken around four days ago and on Wednesday he was confirmed positive with Coronavirus based on the reports received from laboratory. "The man complained of cold and fever a day
after he returned from abroad. He was kept under isolation when he came for medical examination. However, on Wednesday, reports were received and he was found being suffering from Coronavirus," the CMO added.
The patient has now been shifted to Greater Noida Institute of Medical Science (GIMS) for quarantine where he will be put on anti-viral therapy. Meanwhile, in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has created a 300 bed quarantine facility in Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in Greater Noida. Officials said that those tested and their results are awaited will be kept in the facility. If their results are positive they will be kept in isolation else they will be allowed to go back their homes.
Meanwhile, two more Coronavirus cases were reported in Gurugram. One patient is a 22-year-old resident of Palam Vihar who just returned from Britain, where she was studying. The second is a woman from Gurgram's sector 50 who has been admitted to Safdarjung.
The Haryana government cancelled annual examinations for Classes 1 to 8 in all government and private schools till March 31, officials said on Wednesday.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday discussed with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in the national capital.
"Met Hon'ble LG and discussed what further measures need to be taken. Everyone is working hard to contain the virus. These r difficult times. But nothing to panic. We shall overcome (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.

Earlier in the day, after an employees' body of the DMRC wrote to the Delhi Metro seeking suspension of breathalyser tests for train operators amid coronavirus scare, authorities at the rapid transit network have said all precautions are taken during such health examinations and "there is no chance of any infection".
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Staff Council had written a letter to the DMRC on Tuesday, requesting it to issue health guidelines and suspend breathalyser tests, in view of the outbreak of highly contagious Coronavirus in the country.
As a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Delhi University has suspended the regular classes in the departments, colleges and centres affiliated with the varsity until March 31. The clarification from the University comes after some colleges reportedly asked the teachers to
be present in the colleges even as the varsity decided to suspend its classroom lectures and arrange students' education material through its website last week.
The latest release said the teachers have the option to work from their homes.
"However, teaching-learning process shall continue through e-resources. The teachers have the option to work from their homes," Delhi University Registrar said in the statement.
