In a relief to e-rickshaw drivers, Delhi government on Thursday decided to organise special camps for issuing driving licenses to them to operate the battery-operated vehicles in the national Capital. In a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, officials of the transport department were asked to organise special camps at all the 13 regional offices so that e-rickshaw drivers do not have to face problems in getting licenses.

“We have been asked to set up special camps for the drivers of e-rickshaws to make their licence,” said a senior official. According to a senior government official, 350 licenses have been issued to e-rickshaw drivers by the transport department so far. Working for the welfare of e-rickshaw drivers is a priority of AAP government. On complaints of e-rickshaws drivers after their vehicles came under the ambit of Motor Vehicles Act, the new government has set up a 7-member panel of AAP volunteers to look into the issue, saying that if need be, they would approach the Centre.
