New Delhi: The Tobacco Institute of India (TII) on Wednesday said it has received complaints from several states that cigarette packets are being sold at prices higher than the MRP printed on the packages.
It said the sale of packaged goods, including cigarettes, above the MRP is illegal and violates the provisions of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
TII urged the trade to sell cigarettes at prices that do not exceed the MRP.
