According to a survey conducted for the scale of entrepreneurship in India, it was revealed that in a time when the government is pushing for ‘Make in India’ and also promoting skill development and start-ups, around 80 percent of the graduates in the country are unemployable, pointed out the co-founder of Micromax mobiles Rajesh Aggarwal while interacting with around 50 principals of various schools from Delhi-NCR who along with other industry leaders got together to discuss how to make students more employable.

The interaction was a part of a two-day Principals’ Education Conclave 2016’ at Suncity World School, Gurgaon.

The leaders gave an industry perspective on education and employment and how in the present Indian education system the focus is only on examinations whereas practical knowledge takes a backseat. “We have fixed curriculums over the years and very less interactive sessions. We need a big shift in thinking and action”, said Aggarwal while interacting with principals and students.

The industry leaders also suggested that it was now time that the corporates too have stakes in schools and colleges so that real time training can be given to the students to make them more industry ready.
