Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a 40-year-old man for duping two banks of Rs 5 crore and is wanted in two criminal cases in Mumbai, Maharashtra, police said on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Shailesh Harender Sinha, alias Pawan Saxena (40).
According to police, Security Guard Board, Maharashtra, deposited the money deducted from the salaries of security guards as PF in Corporation Bank, Gokhle Road, Dadar, Mumbai. Shailesh and his associates — Amit Patel and Samir Kapadia — got an account in the name of ‘Proven Traders Pvt Ltd’ in the same bank. They produced forged beneficiary certificate purportedly issued by Security Guard Board, Maharashtra in favour of ‘Proven Traders Pvt Ltd’ stating therein that a loan of Rs 2 crore may be issued to the holder of the certificate.
Further Corporation Bank sanctioned the loan to Proven Traders Pvt Ltd only on the basis of that beneficiary certificate. Later, the certificate was found to be forged. He was also wanted in a similar case in Panwel City, Mumbai wherein Union Bank of India was duped to the tune of Rs 3 crore.
“When a team of Dadar, Mumbai Police arrived Delhi and sought assistance of Crime Branch in tracing and arresting the accused a team of Crime Branch was constituted and it was learnt that Shailesh was hiding in Boprala Village in a rented accommodation from where he was apprehended,” Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) said.
