132 kV transmission line commissioned in Kapasiya of North 24 Parganas

State Power minister Sobhandeb Chatterjee on Monday commissioned 132 kV electricity transmission line from Jerat to Mahishpota at Kapasiya area in North 24 Parganas.

The project would upgrade the electricity network in various parts of the district. Areas which would be directly benefitted are Katuria, Bamunpukur, Baroberia, Rudrapur, Sajerhat, Bisharpara and Ghola. Parts of Belghoria will also be benefitted from the new line.

Residents in the aforementioned areas would get adequate power with specified voltage. The state government has estimated the project to cost around Rs 42 crore.

It may be mentioned that West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (WBSETCL) plans to draw a new connection line between Mahishpota and Titagarh, which will enhance the reliability of the power supply in the locality.

It may be mentioned that the state Power department has been installing various sub-stations across the state to solve the problem of voltage deficiency which persists in some parts of the state.

According to sources, many such electricity transmission projects are underway, which will soon be completed.

Power department officials believe that low voltage problems in some parts of the state will be solved within the next year as work for the completion of various sub-stations will be completed soon.
