Now, locate public toilets in NDMC area on Google

A Google-based Toilet Locator Awareness Campaign has been launched from New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area for urban local bodies in Delhi-NCR by Union Ministry of Urban Development at Smart Toilet Block at Rafi Marg on Wednesday.
Swachh Bharat Mission Director and Joint Secretary Ministry of Urban Development Praveen Prakash said that by this campaign, "we have to undertake an exercise of locating the community and public toilets, which include municipal toilets and toilets located in the petrol pumps, malls, railway stations, bus stands and at other public places in Delhi-NCR.
The Google Toilet Locator Awareness Campaign had already been commissioned as a pilot project last year and now geo-tagged more than 5,000 toilets on the Google maps across five cities of NCR (Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida) and two cities from Indore and Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh.
The campaign will be run from July 12 to August 11 this year. At the end of the campaign, the cleanest toilet will be awarded.
One lakh Dettol soap packets will be distributed at toilets in nine urban local bodies of Delhi-NCR (namely, EDMC, SMDC, North-MCD, NDMC, Delhi Cantonment Board, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad or NOIDA Municipalities), Prakash added.
NDMC Chairperson Naresh Kumar informed that NDMC public toilets had been mapped on Google for easy searchable for any citizen or any person who wished to visit New Delhi area. "NDMC uploaded 331 public toilets unit (PTUs) on the NDMC311 Application, as well as Google Map and it would reach 372 within a period of three months," he added.
