Youth held, juveniles apprehended for killing 16-year-old girl

Delhi Police on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old youth and apprehended two juveniles for allegedly kidnapping and killing a 16-year-old girl who went missing from East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar in May.

Investigators said that on May 18, the elder brother of the 16-year-old girl reported to police that she allegedly eloped with one of the juveniles, a 17-year-old boy. As she knew him from the time she lived in her native place in Uttar Pradesh, she was allegedly involved in a relationship with him. 

Against their relationship, the father of the 16-year-old girl brought her to live with him and her elder brother in Krishna Nagar, Delhi. A day after she allegedly eloped. Based on the girl’s elder brother’s complaint, a missing case was registered at the Krishna Nagar police station, police said.

According to the investigators, during the course of investigation, police got to know that the girl stole her neighbour’s mobile phone and was in touch with the 17-year-old boy and the youth, identified as Aveenash.

“Based on the Call Detail Records of Aveenash, police traced him outside Old Delhi Railway station and detained him. During interrogation, he disclosed that Aveenash was the 17-year-old boy’s cousin. After eloping, they came to live with Aveenash. Since Aveenash was living with his girlfriend, Aveenash’s girlfriend asked him to take the girl away,” said a senior police officer. Police added that Aveenash along with the two juveniles killed the 16-year-old girl in Tughlakabad Extension and later on dumped her body at a Najafgarh drain.
