Yoga has given India global recognition: Mahesh Sharma

Yoga Day celebrations has given India a "unique" international recognition, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma has said.  

Sharma inaugurated an exhibition on 'Yoga Chakra, Tradition and Modernity' which coincided with the International Yoga Day celebrations. He said that International Yoga Day was celebrated across the world and is a matter of great pride for India. "The Yoga Day celebrations has given India a unique recognition in the world. Yoga is a part of our culture and our ancient culture has found a place worldwide with the celebration of the Yoga Day," he said, adding that 177 countries have joined India in this initiative to celebrate yoga worldwide. 

The exhibition is a part of the larger idea of the Ministry of Culture to celebrate Yog <g data-gr-id="17">Parv</g>, a festival of Yoga in the context of performing and visual arts. Workshops and interactive sessions were organised in three interlinked segments. Yog <g data-gr-id="18">Parv</g> has been organised by the autonomous organisation of Ministry of Culture, Sangeet Natak Akademi, in association with sister organizations and museums from across the country.
