The present operator of the stretch has reportedly been asked to construct a new road connecting the entry\exit points and Vrindavan also. As per the report, the proposed move was taken to facilitate people living in upcoming township projects in the region as well as large number of pilgrims visiting Mathura.
This ramp will cut down the to and fro journey by nearly 40 km and travellers in four wheelers will save toll charge up to Rs 120. A total of Rs 50 crore will be spent on the entire project which will be borne by the authority itself. To complete the construction of the ramp within the stipulated time, the authority has decided to hand over 6.45 hectare land to the toll operator. Presently, one has to pay Rs 220 as toll to reach Mathura from Greater Noida. But once the new corridor starts functioning, a commuter will pay only Rs 100 and will not have to go till Mathura toll gate. At present, commuters go all way to Mathura toll plaza and take a U-turn to reach Mathura. “Once the ramp will be operational, commuters will reach Mathura without covering more distance and paying toll at Mathura toll plaza. The toll user will reduce charges up to 50 per cent,” said the spokesperson.
The officials of YEIDA said that there was a long-pending demand of the Expressway users and Jaypee Authority, a company which ensures upkeep and maintenance of 165-km long carriageway, to open an entry/exit ramp before the Mathura toll plaza to avoid toll amount and reduce the journey time and distance. “As commuters, especially pilgrims, use the Expressway to reach Mathura, we have earlier approved change in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and have asked the toll operator to construct the ramp,” said a senior official of YEIDA, adding that the move will also facilitate investors/buyers to show interest in the upcoming township project in Naujhil-Bajna area as the proposed ramp will connect the place directly from the highway. The commuters of Aligarh and Bulandshahr use the entry/exit point near Jewar but the users of other districts use inter-changes to reach their destination. There are seven inter-changes on the entire carriageway. Nearly 60,000 motorists use the Yamuna Expressway on a regular basis and the number is rising gradually.
