After the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, separatist groups of Kashmir seem to be in a mood to politicising the matter.

Yasin Malik, chairman of one of the factions of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), held a day-long fast in Islamabad to protest against Afzal’s hanging. During the fast he was seen sharing dais with India’s most wanted and mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai attacks Hafiz Saeed.

Hafiz is founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the outfit responsible for many terror strikes in India including November 2008 Mumbai attacks. Malik also addressed gathering present at there. He also appealed with the Pakistan government to take a call at the earliest about the fate of Sarabjit Singh who has been awarded death sentence by Pakistan court for plotting explosions in that country. Malik said that some people in Pakistan are demanding for early hanging of Sarabjit Singh. He asked the people not to clamour for that as it would also be akin to the treatment handed out to Afzal by India.
