Technology consulting and services company Accenture on Sunday announced plans to boost its United States work force by 30 per cent in the coming three years. Accenture said that it will create "15,000 highly skilled new jobs" in the USA, increasing the size of its overall workforce in the country to more than 65,000 by the end of 2020.
The hiring will come with the creation of 10 new "innovation hubs" and to invest $1.4 billion in training employees "leading-edge capabilities" for doing their jobs.
"Today marks a key moment for Accenture to help our clients play an even bigger part in the nation's growth and innovation agenda," Accenture chief executive Julie Sweet said in a release.
Accenture is the latest major company to announce investments or job creation in the United States in a trend that has followed the election of US President Donald Trump, whose campaign stressed boosting domestic manufacturing and jobs.
Meanwhile, French IT major Capgemini said recently that its employee base in India will touch 1 lakh by April-end and despite the concerns on protectionism, it will continue to recruit more talent in the country with a bias towards hiring more freshers.
"We will be touching 1 lakh in a few weeks' time...we are at 98,800 employees right now and we shall touch 1 lakh by April-end," Capgemini India Chief Executive Srinivas Kandula said in Mumbai. The company is the third largest employer among foreign IT companies in India after Accenture and IBM.
