In the gala final of the World Travel Awards 2012, held in the Oberoi, Gurgaon, on 12 December 2012, the Maharajas’ Express has been chosen for the coveted prize ahead of ten other nominees (luxury trains), from across the world, some of which were Rovos Rail, Blue Train, Rocky Mountaineer, Eastern Oriental Express, Venice-Simplon Orient Express.
