Work with MPs, MLAs for rural development, govt tells babus

In order to ensure balanced and equitable development of villages in the national capital, Delhi government asked the concerned officials to consult local MPs and MLAs before taking up any 
development work.

Chief secretary DM Spolia issued instructions to commissioner (development department), all deputy commissioners and district magistrates in this regard. ‘All concerned officials, who have rural villages in their respective districts, have been asked to consult the local MLAs and MPs so that they can prioritise their needs and obtaining Rs 1.25 crore per village for its planned development,’ Spolia said, 
As per 2011 Census, the rural population was 4.19 lakh in city and Delhi Rural Development Board (DRDB) was initially constituted in October 2004 for the integrated development of rural villages. The chief secretary has asked officials to submit timely progress report of the work. The development works, which will be carried out, include construction of roads, drainage facility, parks, playgrounds, etc.
