Woman poses as derailment victim’s sister, arrested

A 45-year-old woman was arrested for masquerading as the sister of a man killed in Indore-Patna derailment incident and trying to claim compensation, police said on Wednesday.

DSP Pavitra Mohan Tripathi said a woman claiming to be Preeti, a resident of Patna, yesterday approached the authorities at Mati postmortem house and identified a body as that of her brother Rahul. The postmortem of the body was carried out and preparations were being made to hand it over when some doctors became suspicious as she kept asking when she would be recieving the compensation, he said. The medical staff informed the police who questioned the woman. She kept on giving different addresses to them and was also not able to provide her identity card.
