A 40-year-old woman, accused of murdering her two step children, jumped off to her death in east Delhi on Friday. Reportedly, after killing the children, she herself had consumed poison but survived.
The deceased has been identified as Rekha, a resident of Bulandshehar, Uttar Pradesh.
A divorcee, Rekha got married to one Mahinder in 2007. He had two children, Pooja, 14, and Shivam, 11, from his first wife, Snehlata.
The police said on Wednesday, she killed her step children by brutally beating them with a heavy stone. Then she wrote a suicide note and consumed poison.
When cops reached their residence after Mahinder informed the police, they found that Rekha was unconcious. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors referred her to GTB hospital in north-east Delhi.
On Thursday, she was admitted to ward No 27 under the supervision of a constable.
On Friday, around 5 am, she managed to reach the balcony of her ward and then jumped off the seventh floor.
‘We are investigating the matter and questioning her husband. We are also coordinating with the UP Police to know more details about the Wednesday incident,’ the official added.
