The deceased has been identified as Anu Adhikari, wife of Madan Singh Adhikari. Police said that the deceased’s mouth was taped and hands were tied and her throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon.
The matter came to light when the deceased’s son returned from school. ‘When her son returned home and found her lying unconscious in a pool of blood. He immediately rushed to a nearby store and asked the owner to call his father Madan Singh,’ Pawan Arora, the deceased’s neighbour said. She was later taken to Kailash hospital in Noida where she was declared brought dead.
The police said that there were injury marks on her neck, face, hands and other parts of the body. There were blood stains on the wall as well. ‘A scissor has been recovered from the crime scene. Blood was scattered in drawing room and kitchen. It appears that the deceased had resisted before being over-powered by the accused,’ a police officer said.
When asked about the motive behind the murder, the officer said that it was yet to be established. ‘The alimirah of a room was ransacked and a bag was also lying on the bed. ‘Prima facie it appears to be a case of robbery but we are probing the case from all angles.
There is also a possibility that crime was was dressed up so as to make it look like a robbery’, the officer added. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem and an FIR has been lodged at Sector 58 police station.
A crime team has picked up some samples from the scene to gain leads into the case. The deceased is survived by her husband Madan Singh Adhikari, who runs a factory, son Rajat Adhikari and a daughter who studies in Delhi University.
