Woman falls by accident onto metro track, injured by train

In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old married woman sustained severe injuries after she accidentally fell on the metro tracks in Barakhamba Metro station on Tuesday evening.

According to additional deputy commissioner of police (railways), Sanjay Bhatia, the woman was identified as Kanchan. She is married and has two children.

‘At around 4 pm, she went to the Barakhamba metro station for boarding a train. She was talking on her mobile phone while walking on the platform and failed to notice that the platform ended and she fell down on the track. Before she could recover herself, she was hit by a metro train and sustained severe injuries on her right leg and head,’ said Bhatia.

She was immediately rushed to the nearby RML hospital in an unconscious condition. Doctors said that she is out of danger and recuperating from her injuries. The police said an information has been sent to her family and cops are examining the CCTV footages available at the metro station.

However, police denied any foul play in this regard.
