A 29-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by a Nigerian national in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area.
According to the complainant, she first met the Nigerian man in Pune where she befriended him, following which she and entered into a relationship with him. Soon after, they shifted to Uttam Nagar area, police said.
According to the police, the woman and the Nigerian national were in a live-in relationship for seven months.
“The complainant, a native of Tamil Nadu went to meet her family. When she tried to contact him, he stopped taking her calls. When she came back to Delhi, he refused to marry her. She then approached the local police station and filed a complaint against the man,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
She and the Nigerian man lived in a rented accommodation in the Budh Nagar area.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC at the Uttam Nagar police station.
Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said: “A case has been registered. We have started investigation in the matter and are trying to trace the culprit.”
