Ahead of Republic Day, the Chief of various police forces in Delhi and its adjoining states discussed the interstate coordination between various forces and shared vital intelligence inputs in a meeting held at Delhi Police Headquarters on Monday.
The main objective of the interstate cooperation meeting was to share terror related intelligence and inputs about various extremist outfits and their designs in view of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations. Senior officers of the Delhi Police and their counterparts from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh attended the meeting.
The meeting is of strategic importance, keeping in mind the terror threat this Republic Day. Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Verma stressed on increasing police presence, intensive and coordinated checking at vulnerable points including the border areas with other states, tenant verifications, guest house checkings, checking paying guest accommodations and sensitisation of cyber cafe owners, second-hand car dealers, cycle sellers, public telephone booths, etc in order to strengthen the counter terrorism measures.
“The officers attending the meeting shared intelligence to check crimes committed by interstate criminals and organised gangs of auto lifters operating in their respective areas. Issues of human trafficking, missing children, proliferation of fake Indian currency notes, smuggling of illicit firearms were also discussed together with preventive steps emphasising upon integrated joint checking at unmanned borders with the cooperation from neighbouring state police,” said Rajeev Ranjan, PRO Delhi Police.
