Pushing the toll to 12 on Tuesday, one more death from Swine Flu was reported in the capital. As many as 34 more people tested positive for the virus, taking the number of people infected in the city to 834. A 54-year-old woman, resident of Dwarka, breathed her last in Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital. She was admitted on 18 February.
The Delhi government said it is closely watching the preparedness of hospitals for treatment, availability of beds in isolation wards and in Intensive Care Units, stock and regular availability of medicines and management of diagnostic facilities. A K Walia, Health Minister, said, ‘The identified 17 government and five private hospitals for treatment as well as three government and five private diagnostic laboratories are effectively working round the clock to manage the cases.’ Doctors advise high standard of hygiene to prevent the disease.
