A day after a 23-year-old BBA student’s headless body was found chopped in 16 pieces on a railway track, a case of murder has been registered against his wife’s family. Reportedly the victim, Paras Bhasin, had married one Shaliy Mittal in a secret ceremony, against her parents’ wishes. The family, along with Shaily, are now absconding and Shaliy’s Facebook account has been deactivated. A complaint has been lodged against the father, mother and brother of Shaily.
The family of the deceased has submitted in court a marriage certificate, an Arya Samaj Mandir marriage certificate and a video made by Paras’ sister.
Police has recorded the statement of Paras’ family. They have also seized the mobile phone of Paras’ mother. Cops are now trying to trace the mobile number from which an unidentified person had called her to inform about the body.
In the statement, the family said that on Saturday evening, Paras received messages from one Barkha and Aman Deep Hasan saying, ‘Teri aatma ko shanti milay (May your soul rest in peace)’.
Police are planning to take the help of cyber experts to recover deleted messages from Paras’ Facebook account and to re-activate Shaily’s account. Paras’s chopped, headless body was recovered from the railway track in east Delhi on Sunday. The body parts were scattered in a range of 500 metres. A mobile phone recovered from the site was completely smashed.
‘The girl belongs to a rich family and currently resides with her family in Surya Nagar area of Ghaziabad. They got married four months ago and the girl’s family was unaware of it till 25 August,’ said the police official. The official added that the day the girl’s family came to know about the marriage, Paras started getting threats. A few hours before murder, a text message was received by Paras from Shaily’s mobile number.
