Rejecting speculations that senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar’s meeting with him was a pressure tactic to stop inquiry concerning irrigation projects, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday said bringing out a white paper is a commitment.
Issuing a white paper on irrigation is a commitment to the Legislative Assembly, Chavan said after the weekly cabinet meeting here.
‘We are a coalition and discussions between two parties are normal course. There is a mechanism of co-ordination,’ he added.
When asked about criticism that the white paper will not yield any substantial result to pin point accountability for irregularities in the department, Chavan replied, ‘that is your view.’
To a query on reports that Ajit Pawar was not answering his calls few days before quitting ministerial posts, he said ,’That’s not true. He was unwell.’
