With urbanisation becoming the order of the day and the world transforming into a global village, economic migrants are everywhere. This Saturday, catch the tale of one such economic migrant from Bangladesh in Le Ferie Di Licu [Licu’s Holidays]. Licu, a 27-year-old Muslim born in Bangladesh migrates to Italy.
He lived in Rome for six years and became a supporter of the football club Roma. He seemed to have integrated well in Italy. Then one fine day, he received a photo of an 18-year-old girl from his mother. This girl is the bride his family had chosen for him.
Licu returned to Bangladesh and had only four weeks to organise a wedding with a person he does not know. When he arrives, however, the negotiations between his family and his bride-to-be’s become complicated.
Directed by Vittorio Moroni and starring Moazzem Hossain, Fancy Khanam and Giulia di Giulio, this 93-minute flick will be screened at the Italian Cultural Institute. Watch the tale unfold.
