The Finance Ministry on Monday launched a dedicated website for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, government's flagship financial inclusion programme, to help people open bank accounts. ‘The website will provide an easy access to information on the Yojna, administrative structure created for monitoring, progress of the scheme, availability of account opening forms and financial literacy to the urban and rural population,’ said Financial Services Secretary G S Sandhu after launching the website.
The website will also act as a tool for controllers and various stakeholders to monitor and implement the scheme in a more effective manner. It is available in English and Hindi versions. ‘As on October 22, 6.47 crore accounts have been opened with a deposit of Rs 4,813.59 crore,’. Jan Dhan yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a national mission on financial inclusion encompassing an integrated approach to bring about comprehensive financial inclusion.
