‘We may go for new alliances after 2014 polls’

Asked about new alliance possibilities for the 2014 general elections, Nath said: ‘Let’s see. Alliances are fixed before and also after elections. We will see ground realities at that time and act accordingly.’

Talking about the outcome of Madhya Pradesh poll, the MP from Chhindwara, said: ‘The Congress’ position in Madhya Pradesh is strong and the wave of change will be reflected in election results.
The people of the state have understood that the BJP government of 10 years is a government which was bluffing its way through and corruption has crossed all limits. I am confident that Congress will come to power in Madhya Pradesh this time.’

Regarding the controversial issue of extension of lease to Taj Mansingh hotel, the minister said, ‘The issue has been refereed to the Solicitor General and let the Solicitor General’s comments come.
Thereafter a view will be taken after the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). I am not aware what the legal issues are. That is why it has been referred. Once we an opinion from the Solicitor General we will take a view. We would like to then move legally on this.’

Asked about the issue of Airport Metro Express line and whether the ministry has decided to pay compensation to Reliance, which Delhi govt has refused, Nath said, ‘There is an empowered group of ministers (EGOM) regarding metros to be held on 5 December and let the EGOM take a view on it because we have to go by the provisions of the concession agreement. We will have to move according to law.’
