To solve the problem of solid waste disposal, the Noida Authority has proposed to procure mobile incinerator machines, which apart from reducing garbage to ash, will also turn residue in a form that could be used for paving and concretising roads.
According to sources, the decision was taken after the National Green Tribunal issued an interim stay order for developing the landfill site at Sector 123. In light of this stay order, the authority has decided to procure such machines for proper disposal of solid waste.
The authority is talking with a number of firms that specialise in manufacturing the incinerators. A team has been set up to prepare a feasibility report to see the usage of the incinerators in handling solid waste disposal in the city. The authority will take the final decision to use the incinerators once it passes the feasibility report.
The authority is reportedly planning to procure more than 30 units of the incinerator machines with an individual capacity of 50 tonnes of garbage that could produce residue of 20 kilograms. These machines would be pressed into service for cleaning municipal waste throughout the day. Around 300 metric tonnes of solid waste is generated in the city daily.
