As many as 41 people linked to the scam have died so far. Most recent one is that of Vyapam’s former observer and retired IFS officer Vijay Bahadur Singh, whose body was found on a railway track near Odisha’s <g data-gr-id="12">Belpahad</g> station on Thursday. “I have to travel to UP with my family for some important work. And it is the state where over 100 Vyapam accused are still loitering free. My family is too worried after this death,” Dr Rai said. He has asked for the deployment of armed security personnel in his reserved compartment.
“Deaths on tracks is something which Indian forensic scientists are weak at probing. In any case it is not that easy to identify if a death is suicidal or homicidal when a body is found on tracks,” he said.
