I remember a time when getting punished meant getting locked in a room. There is a lot that one can do in a locked room - no one’s watching. Now assuming me and my sibling had a nasty fight and we both get locked in the same room together, we could try and get along, or we could keep fighting. Replace siblings with significant others - same thing.
And now let’s assume that our parents want to notch up the odds against us and fits the room with a CCTV camera. Step two would be throwing in some dysfunctional celebrities into the room and ladies and gentlemen - we have Bigg Boss! Doesn’t matter what the season or the theme, voyeurism is primetime obsession.
Taking off from Big Brother, Bigg Boss chose the ‘drama and some sex’ route into the hearts of the viewers. The pettier the celebs the better the arguments, more the drama and the TRP’s sky rocket. Then you can always try to weep, pout, explain some ridiculous thing you did in the real world - everyone wants to know.
This season’s Bigg Boss has put together a crazy bag of small time celebs who are hoping to cash in on what ever they can. If you have been watching them on Colors regularly, you have my sympathies and I hope I have yours.
My last job had me live tweet the finale of the show - it was tragic. I like my drama I suppose, but I like Salman Khan more.
