Vodafone India rings in 16.5% first-half revenue growth

The revenue performance was driven by price hardening, strong growth in voice minutes and data revenues and partially offset by the effect of seasonality and regulatory changes.

The service revenue of the company grew by 13.5 per cent to Rs 18,481 crore during the reported period from Rs 16,282.6 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of the company stood at  Rs 6,519.1 crore in H1FY14 as compared to Rs 4,993 crore in H1 FY13.

Company’s operating free cash flow (OFCF) registered an impressive growth of 41.2  per cent at Rs 47,706 million in H1FY14 against the figure of Rs 33,779 million in H1FY13.

Margin improvement and OFCF of the firm were driven by scale benefits, operating efficiencies and lower acquisition costs. Capex spend increased 12 per cent to  Rs 19,087 million in H1FY14 with focus on future growth areas like data and strategic focus areas like delivering unmatched customer experience.

Vodafone India managing director and CEO Marten Pieters said: ' We continue to show a healthy revenue growth driven by price hardening, an exponential growth in data and a solid subscriber base. Our focus on profitable growth has led to a strong operating free cash flow.'

The total subscriber base of the company at the end of H1 FY'14 stood at 15.55 crore. The company's revenue market share stood at 21.9 per cent  in Q1 FY14, registering a growth of 0.9 per cent year-over-year. The company also saw increase in voice revenue per minutes at 46.7 paise during H1 FY'14 from 44 paise in H1 FY'13. The average revenue of Vodafone per user stood at Rs 200.
